Course objectives
The aim of the course is for learners to be familiar with the basics of the various legal disciplines and to be able to find reliable information at a basic level. They will be familiar with the possibilities of legal aid, the form of legal regulations, and learn to read professional legal texts and court decisions. Furthermore, the course aims to enable learners to improve their (legal) argumentation skills, to present their opinions and to be able to understand the substance of a professional communication. They will gain a clear understanding of how court proceedings are conducted. Emphasis will be placed on legal topics related to their future profession, i.e. topics such as rights and obligations of parties at work, rights of children, specifics of labour regulation in education. For this reason, the aim of the course is to make them master in more detail the basics of the mentioned legal regulations.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, learners will:
- be able to define basic legal concepts (legal norm, law, source of law)
- understand the influence of the European Union on the legal order of the Czech Republic
- be able to describe the system of courts in the Czech Republic and identify what each court decides
- be able to define the foundations of the constitutional structure of the Czech Republic
- know the essential elements of each type of contract and know what to look out for when entering into contracts
- be able to apply the acquired knowledge of law in concrete practical situations
- be able to recognise when employees' rights are violated and be able to evaluate the possibilities of resolving disputes between employee and employer
- be familiar with the key values underpinning a contemporary democratic society that functions through freedom (market economy).

The condition for granting credit is
- writing a self-assessment sheet
- response to another learner's self-assessment sheet
- attending a selected trial and writing a reflection on what you saw
- passing a test.
