- Course objectives
- To help students familiarize themselves with contents already instructed in Practical Chinese for Mgr. program 1. Enrollment is strongly recommended.
Students will conduct dialogue exercises and interviews under the guidance of teaching assistants in conjunction with the class content of KSCA651 - Learning outcomes
- Students will engage in discussions on assigned topics to use vocabulary and grammar, and learn how to describe events in daily life, enabling them to hold longer and more complete conversations.
They will practice using written language by composing magazine articles. - Syllabus
- Students will practice HSK 5-1 each week in coordination with the progress of the KSCA652 course.
- For each lesson, students are required to give a presentation related to the theme of the assigned text. Please follow these guidelines:
- 1. Focus on one specific topic or argument and explore it in depth.
- 2. Prepare slides for your presentation. The visual design is not the priority, but the content must be presented in Chinese. You must upload your slides to IS at least one week before your presentation so the TA can review them.
- 3. Your presentation should last about five minutes and be delivered using your slides. You may include video clips if they help your audience better understand your topic, but avoid relying too much on videos, as this reduces your opportunity to practice presenting in Chinese.
- 4. After the presentation, each audience member is required to ask the presenter one question, and the presenter should respond. Each Q&A should take about one minute.
- 5. At the end of the semester, each student must choose one of the topics they have presented and develop it into a full written essay. Outstanding essays will be published in the student journal.
- Teaching methods
- class discussion, conversation, written/oral presentations
- Assessment methods
- 1) Attendance (up to 2 unexcused absences are allowed in one semester). In case of 3 or more unexcused absences, the student fails.
2) In order for an absence to be excused, students must notify the teacher in advance or within 24 hours after the class. If there is an official document (e.g., a medical certificate), students should submit a formal request to study Department of the Faculty.
3) The student needs to fulfill all the tasks given by the teacher (assignments, interviews, etc.) Unpreparedness is judged as absence.
4) Students must not switch study groups, unless the teacher explicitly approved. - Language of instruction
