Course objectives
The goal of the seminar is to discuss morphology and syntax systematically, but with an emphasis placed on the practical use of English word and sentence structure, especially as compared to the corresponding structures in Czech.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • Tento seminář se zaměřuje na systematické studium anglické morfologie a syntaxe. Důraz se klade na praktické zvládnutí morfologických a syntaktických struktur a jejich porovnání s odpovídajícími strukturami v češtině. Kurs vychází z učebnice L. G. Alexandra _Longman English Grammar_ (1988) a studijních materiálů (cvičení) pro jednotlivé semináře.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Seminar; written mid-term test, written end-of-course test (credit test). The final mark for the course (exam result) is made up of a sum of all four written tests throughout the two terms (ie. midterm I + credit test I + midterm II + credit test II). The passing mark is 70 per cent. The resit for those who fail consists of a single written exam test covering the entire course.
