- Course objectives
- The goal: chosen aesthetic concepts or problems will be analyzed. The difference between facts and values will be discussed as well as the question if we can get to know something via art, if there is any relation between art and truth. A definition of beauty will be stressed: inside it a theory o faesthetic properties is to have its fundament. Aesthetic concepts, ontology of a work of art, values, the problem of an objectigvity of a work. A sense of artistic and/or aesthetic critics will be also discussed on the background of the given definition of beauty.

- Ontology of a work of art. Good Argumentation. Sokals Affair. Sensual knowledge, skepticism, indirect realism: Berkeley, Descartes, Hume, Kant. Definition in general: Can art be defined? Ogden, Richards. Aesthetic concepts. What do we, as aestheticians, talk about? Ontology of a work of art: what is music, a picture? Properties. What is it? What properties do properties have? Is a form more important than a content? Does it matter? What are features of aesthetic judgement? Is beauty subjective or objective? What is taste? Canonical art. Critics.
