Course objectives
Reading and analysis of selected text, usually of Sophokles's Oidipus King. The analysis has following parts: stylistic analysis, literary and culturally-historical.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction into classical drama
  • 2. Literary work of Sophocles
  • > 3. Metre of Sophocles dramas
  • 4. Oedipus in classical literature
  • 5. Oedipus in modern literature
  • Reading and interpretation of selected parts of the text (approximately two pages of the text of Teubners edition are interpreted during every lesson): analysis of specific morphological, syntactic, lexical and stylistic phenomena comments of the teacher and papers of the students.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Předpokladem pro udělení zápočtu je aktivní účast studenta v seminářích a přednesení referátu na vybrané téma. Při ústní zkoušce musí student prokázat na vybraném úryvku velmi dobrou schopnost interpretace a správného překladu.

Information on completion of the course: Studenti, kteří mají v kombinaci s klasickou řečtinou obor latinský jazyk a literatura, a studenti jednooborové klasické filologie předmět ukončují zkouškou!
