Course objectives
The aim of this course is to learn the narrators strategy in childrens stories in detail, to understand the text structure and characters of these stories better and to test students own creative skills by their own creative work. The content of this course is the analysis of the childrens story "O perníkové chaloupce" by Božena Němcová and the conversion of this prosaic form into drama. Students will prepare various tasks every lesson and they will deal with primary and secondary literature.
Syllabus
  • Introduction of the seminar contents, sequent work on tasks concentrated on individual characters (mother, father, "Jeníček," "Mařenka," witch), magic properties, recognition of story addressee (child/adult), the text analysis with the aid of Propps Morphology of the Folktale, possible interpretations of childrens stories and various motif sequences and the functions of a dialogue in prosaic and dramatic texts.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Závěrečným výstupem semináře je odevzdání pohádkového textu, vypracovaného na základě analýz provedených v semináři. Z hodiny na hodinu studenti vypracovávají domácí úkoly v rozsahu cca 180 slov. Povoleny jsou 3 absence za semestr.
