Course objectives
Reading of Catullus, Propertius and Tibullus is not a regular course. Student obtains the credit for individual reading of the selected poetry. Student are expected to read, understand and comment on the poems assigned.

  • Reading Catullus, Propertius and Tibullus is not a regular course.
  • Prescribed reading:
  • Catullus: 1-9, 11-14, 17, 21, 24, 30-52, 62, 66, 70-75, 83, 85, 87, 92-93, 101, 109.
  • Propertius: I,1,18; III 21; IV 11.
  • Tibullus: I 1,3,10; II 2; IV 7-9, 11.

Individual reading and consultation.
Assessment methods
Individual reading and consultation. The knowledge of the poetry of Catullus, Propertius and Tibullus is examined thorugh translating a selected passage from Latin to Czech, its metrically correct delivery and commenting on it.
