Course objectives
Main objectives of the course can be summarized as follows: to deepen the knowledge of the Spanish grammar with the emphasis on the syntax; to be able to write a short essay or speak about an issue concerning Spanish history, geography and culture.
Syllabus
  • The course has not been yet realized. This is just the preliminary concept of the syllabus.
  • 1. Spanish in the world. Revision of pronouns.
  • 2. Language differences in Spain - official languages and dialects. Revision of past tenses - imperfect.
  • 3. Spanish in Latin America - differences. Revision of past tenses - Indefinite.
  • 4. Geographical and climatic differences in Spain. Use of past tenses: Imperfect/Indefinite.
  • 5. Cultural differences, customs and mentality of people in Spain. Revision of past tenses - Past-perfect.
  • 6. Holidays and traditions in Spain. Gastronomy. Sequence of tenses (Indicative) - part 1.
  • 7. Spanish art: music, film. Sequence of tenses (Indicative) - part 2.
  • 8. Spanish art: architecture, fine arts. Affirmative imperative.
  • 9. Regional division of Spain. Negative imperative.
  • 10. Political system in Spain. Subjunctive used after the words quizás, tal vez, ojalá.

Teaching methods
All the basic methods of CLT programme (Communicative Language Teaching)are used: individual, pair, group activities (conversation, practice, drill). Audition. Homework extended to e-learning self-study. 99% of teaching is in Spanish. The main focus is on audition
Assessment methods
Written test and oral discussion to prove the ability of speaking.
