- Course objectives
- The course follows Didactics of Educational Science. The students complete a field practice in school environment. There are three basic aims: Students will familiarize themselves with running of an institution where their field practice is taking place (basic documents, inner regulations, material equipments of schools, etc.) They will learn about teaching practice of the particular school type at shadowing sessions. Finally, the main aim is students own outputs (teaching) under supervision of experienced teachers and following analysis of these lessons.
- Syllabus
- 1. Theoretical Background for the Field Practice: Provided within Didactics of Educational Science when students are prepared for teaching practice in secondary schools by micro-teaching, feedback methods, self-reflection and self-evaluation methods.
- 2. Preparation for the Field Practice: Students have to participate on a workshop conducted by an experienced teacher directly in a secondary school, where the issues of pedagogic education in secondary schools, as well as issues of practice conduct, shadowing, and students’ participation on school life etc. are discussed.
- 3. Field Practice: Students complete the field practice under supervision of experienced teachers of pedagogy. Typically, the field practice is taking pace in a secondary pedagogic school which has signed an agreement on field practice for students of educational science with Masaryk University. Students attend shadowing sessions, preparatory discussion with a supervising teacher and a feedback session with the supervisor who evaluates the teaching output and recommends future improvement or development for the students.
- Subject methodologist is present at all stages of field experience. 4. Evaluation Seminar after Completing the Field Practice: Students evaluate the field practice together with subject methodologist, especially their own teaching and learning, but also running of the respective school and other experience gained from the field practice.
