- Course objectives
- The objective of the course is to introduce students into the grammatical system of the Old Slavonic language. Phonetic and morphological evolution processes during the pre-historical period up to the time of the Slavonic unity disintegration as well as development of the individual Slavonic languages will be explained.
- Syllabus
- In the series of lectures and workshops, student will get acquainted with Old Slavonic – the first Slavonic standard language. Some aspects of the origins of the Slavonic script and Old Slavonic literature will be explained. The origin of Old Slavonic, its differentiation and emergence of the individual Church Slavonic redactions will be elucidated. Special attention will be paid to the Old Slavonic phonetics and morhology. Church Slavonic will be also dealt with as the liturgical language used in the area of Slavia Byzantina taking into account its existence also in the cultural context of Slavia Latina.
