Course objectives
Enlightenment, the mouvement of revival in the 19th century, twenty years of fascisme.
Syllabus
  • In the Introduction to the History and Culture of Italy II the main topics are as follows: Italy after the death of Lorenzo de Medici; the campaigns of Charles VIII, Louis XII and Charles V in Italy; the French-Spanish wars; Italy and the Council in Trident; the beginning of the Spanish rule; Italy and the Thirty Years’ War; the War of the Spanish succession; the beginning of the Austrian rule; Napoleon in Italy; the birth of the Cisalpine and of the Parthenopaean Republic; the Restoration period; Mazzini’s revolutionary nationalism; the unification process; the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy; the political cabinet: Crispi, Giolitti.
