- Course objectives
- Analysis and practice of basic morphological and syntactic phenomena of the normative grammar necessary for understanding self-contained Latin texts. At the end of the course students will: be able to demonstrate the knowledge of primary latin grammatic end have an understanding of the unknow texts.
- Syllabus
- Lessons 12-16 of the given textbook are covered: Morphology: gerund and gerundive; participles; supine; numerals. Syntax: independent uses of the subjunctive mood, consecutive clauses; participle constructions; periphrastic conjugation; ablative absolute; uses of accusative and nominative in subordinate clauses; gerundive constructions.

- Assessment methods
- Active class attendance and passing a written test where knowledge of relevant grammar is examined are the essential requirements for grade. Course grade is determined by performance in a final written exam where students’ mastery of basic grammar is tested through a translation of a short self-contained Latin passage. Oral part of the exam further analyzes the translation.
