Introduction into history of art
Syllabus
  • The aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the rudiments of the discipline of the art history.
  • The main themes of the course: Stages of the art historian research ; structure of the art historical text (monograph,paper in the art magazine, popularization, lecture etc., edit of the text and notes
  • Historical sources: archives and work in the archive, methods of the archive research, edition of the sources
  • c) Literature: bibliographie, libraries and the work in library, quotation
  • d) Encyclopedias: Dictionaries of Art History, Dictionaries of artists, topographies, corpus etc.
  • e) literature on iconography: "ICONCLASS", indexies in Marburg and Princeton, dokumentations centres (RKD in The Haag, Witt Library in London etc.) and phototecs (Fotothek Marburg)
  • f) Catalogues: corpus, oeuvre-catalogue, museums summary catalogues , exhibitions catalogues
  • g) Art magazines and bulletins in Czech Republic and in the other countries (past and present)
  • h) Art historical intitutions in Czech Republic and in the other countries .
