Course objectives
The Way to the viewer or current practice in classical and non-traditional film distribution
The goal of this course is to introduce the students the contemporary situation and the basic methods of traditional film distribution and in the same time offer the look inside non-traditional forms of distribution. Film distribution is not only traditional concept of selling license for different distribution platforms (cinema, TV, DVD, VOD, etc.), but also the distribution of films in sharing within and outside the institutions, which are primarily preoccupied or are contractually bound to it. At the end of the course students should focus on the current distribution system, understand its basis and theoretical reflection. At the same time they will have practical experience of acquired knowledge.

Teaching methods
In addition to lectures, students will prepare in groups a special project of presentation of selected titles in Brno's cinemas and other spaces.
Assessment methods
Students who realized in groups or individually distribution projects send least 7 days before the exam 3-5 pages text about their the projects.
Students who did not realize project will send a week before the exam essay in the range of 10-15 pages on the following topics:
  • Film Rozkoš in the Czech distribution
  • Film Nepravděpodobná romance in the Czech distribution
  • VOD activities in the Czech Republic
  • Reflection of film distribution in the Czech press
  • Festivals as a distribution platform
  • What is the author's film and where we should look for
  • Language of instruction
