- Course objectives
- Subject provides the survey of Serbian literary production within the period of national revival and the establishment of modern Serbian state interprets Serbian literature of the period of Romanticism and Realism. Especially Vuk Karadžič period of Serbian cultural advancement is emphasized as well as the period of Serbian Romanticism (Branko Radićević, Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, Laza Kostić, Djura Jakšić). Prosaic focusing would involve especially the work of serbian realism, being followed in dramatic plane competently by the most expressive Yugoslavian dramatic and comedy writer Branislav Nušić. At the end of this course the student would be capable to interpret the complicated way of Serbian literature towards the European one. On successful completion of the course student will acquire knowledge of several epochs of the development of Serbian literature and he will deepen his skill to analyse and interpret a literary text.

- Teaching methods
- Subject involves the lecture and seminar, where results of home reading and preparing are discussed. It is necessary for students to prepare for the seminars, read the texts and be prepared for discussion about them.
- Assessment methods
- Prerequisites for granting the credit: regular attendance (maximum of 3 absences during a semester) and thorough home preparation on weekly basis, participation in class discussion, presentation, handing in an essay. Final exam has a form of a written test.
