- Course objectives
- The course deals with a pre-school child’s family socialization, for the role of family and family education in the period from birth to school-age is very important. It presents a survey of main theories and approaches of Pre-School Pedagogy (Fröbel, Montessori, Piaget) and their realizations in contemporary pre-school institutions. Discussions about the position of an institutional pre-school care in the education of children up to six years of age are a part of the course, as well as issues of school maturity and cooperation of kindergartens with schools, and kindergartens with families. Visits to selected kindergartens or nurseries represent a practical experience that supplements the course. Students are introduced into Preschool Pedagogy as an important branch of pedagogy. They have an opportunity to assess an up-to-date state of preschool education and care in the Czech Republic based on their analysis of a chosen preschool institution.
