Course objectives
Topics of the seminar change every semester. Modern Greek literary texts are interpreted in the seminar with special attention to their specificity, contextualization within Greek and European literature, influence over later authors.. In the course of the seminar, students learn the principles of literary work with text.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the seminar students are capable:
- of characterising the given period and its authors;
- of interpreting a literary work independently;
- of contextualizing it within the period.

  • 2) Principles of literary movements, generations etc.;
  • 3) Characteristic of authors and their works;
  • 4) Methods of interpreting a literary work
  • 5) Interpretation of a literary text

Teaching methods
The course has a form of a seminar. The seminar will focus on interpretation of chosen literary works. Students will, on the basis of acquired experience and use of secondary literature, interpret literary works. Students will write an essay on a given topic. Prerequisites for obtaining credits for the seminar are attendance and work in seminar, homework, an essay and an examination.
