Abstract
The course is meant as the second part of the 2-semestral course, which deals with the system of Finnish language. In this course students should acquire an overview of the development of Finnish standard language and socio-cultural situation of the language. Students are able to interpret linguistic texts related to these topics.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should have a good insight into history of Finnish standard language, be familiar with basic sociolinguistic terms and methods and be able to apply the to the situation of Finnish. During the semester students read texts at home and analyze them afterwards in the seminar. Students should also improve their ability to read and analyze Finnish scholarly text.
