- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is reading and analysing selected play, usually Sophocles' Oidipus King. The analysis consists of the following parts: stylistic, literary, cultural and historical. After completing the course the students are able to apply those interpretative criteria on Sophocles' text.

- Planned learning activities and teaching methods consist of seminars 1½ hours per week and homework (reading discussed texts).

- Active participation during the class discussions and the class presentation are prerequisities for the oral exam, during which the student proves his/her understanding of the Greek text by interpreting and translating a selected part of Sophocles' play.
