Course objectives
Course aims:
- further enhancement of the student's skills and knowledge within Medieval Studies as the main focus of their doctoral dissertation;
- demonstration of the ability of practical application of the said principles when working with specific materials;
- gradual enhancement of the student's skills and knowledge within the thematic scope of the specialization Medieval Languages;
- gradual enhancement of the ability of cooperation in a wider team comprised of students from various branches of the specialization (Czech Language, German Studies, Classical Philology);
- application of the skills and knowledge acquired in the wider framework of the specialization, on particular issues of the dissertation thesis.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course, the student shall:
- acquire skills and methods that are adequate for literary-theoretical research in the field of Medieval Studies;
- check their command of the said methods by working with specific material that is related to their dissertation topic;
- boost their knowledge and competence within the thematic scope of the specialization Medieval Languages;
- apply the skills and knowledge acquired in the wider framework of the specialization, on particular issues of the dissertation thesis.
Syllabus
  • The student is to master the principles of the Theory of Medieval Literature; to this end, they shall choose a corpus of texts from the sources that are related to their doctoral thesis, and shall analyze them; this shall be followed by individual work.
