Course objectives
The course is meant as the second part of the 2-semestral course, which deals with the system of Finnish language. In this course students should acquire a good insight into chapters of Finnish grammar such as phonology, possible descriptions of morphology, possibilities of typological comparison, syntactic problems. Students are able to interpret linguistic texts related to these topics.
Learning outcomes
In the course students should acquire a better knowledge about Finnish phonology, morphology and syntax. They also learn about possibilities of typological comparison of Finnish and other languages. During the semester students read texts at home and analyze them afterwards in the seminar. Students should also improve their ability to read and analyze Finnish scholarly text.

  • selected topics from Finnish syntax
  • linguistic typology (comparison of Finniah and other languages)
  • reading and interpretation of linguistic literature
