- Abstract
- The aim of the course of Museum Psychology I. is presenting, with aspects of museology a museum education, the selected themes of psychological disciplines – general psychology, personal psychology, developmental psychology, pedagogical psychology, social psychology, mental hygiene, cognitive psychology and specifics of museum psychology in the view of several authors, museological literature included. At the end of this course students should know and be able to understand and apply gained knowledge to educational work in the space of museum and cultural institutions.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- apply general knowledge of selected psychological disciplines for understanding and work by museum visitors;
- understand the specifics of individual visitor groups in the museum. - Key topics
- 1. Selected themes of general psychology (basic terminology). 2. Selected themes of personal psychology (personality and its structure). 3. Selected themes of pedagogical psychology (the proces of learning – fases, types, methods etc., psychological aspects of didactic standards). 4. Selected themes of developmental psychology (early childhood, pre-school and school period, adolescence, adulthood, old age). 5. Selected themes of social psychology (the proces of socialisation, social learning, social group). 6. Selected themes of mental hygiene (mental hygiene and its standards, stress and its factors, mental disability, burnout effect). 7. Selected themes of social psychology cognitive a imaginative psychology (cognition, perception, imagination).

- Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
- The course consists of lectures, group discussions and excursion to selected topics. Each student chooses their own topic, which they study in depth and discuss during the semester, including the possibility of individual consultations, and then, following the teacher's instructions, write a seminar paper (scientific essay) and submit it to the Elf (e-learning) system.
