- Abstract
- Counterpoint is a one-semester lecture series culminating in a colloquium through a written test. The aim of this course is to introduce students to the techniques of vocal counterpoint and to teach them how to lead voices correctly.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will be able to recognize basic concepts such as imitation, modality, etc. in practice. He will delve deeper into the issues of a given compositional technique and will be able to complete simple exercises in it.

- Prerequisites: intervals and modes - their classification
- Techniques of the cantus firmus: 1:1, 2:1, 4:1, 3:1, 6:1 and syncopic counterpoint
- Imitation techniques: typology
- Contrapuntal figures
- Instrumental techniques: free and reversed counterpoint
- Fugue - analysis and exemplification of the techniques
