Abstract
Counterpoint is a one-semester lecture series culminating in a colloquium through a written test. The aim of this course is to introduce students to the techniques of vocal counterpoint and to teach them how to lead voices correctly.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to recognize basic concepts such as imitation, modality, etc. in practice. He will delve deeper into the issues of a given compositional technique and will be able to complete simple exercises in it.

  • Techniques of the cantus firmus: 1:1, 2:1, 4:1, 3:1, 6:1 and syncopic counterpoint

  • Fugue - analysis and exemplification of the techniques
