- Abstract
- The aim of the course is to finish and submit the Bachelor's Thesis.
- Learning outcomes
- The extent of the bachelor’s thesis is determined by the nature of the field and the topic, and it must be at least 70,000 characters in length. The total extent usually includes the notes and bibliography, but not the introductory pages or appendices.
A mandatory part of the thesis is the title page, which must contain the name of the university, faculty, and department, the title of the thesis, the author’s name, the supervisor’s name, and the year of submission.
The thesis must also include the author’s declaration of originality, a table of contents, a list of references, and the notes. A compulsory component of the thesis is a summary in Modern Greek, one to two pages in length.
The bachelor’s thesis is submitted in electronic form to the Masaryk University Information System (IS MU) (see Directive No. 5/2024 of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, “Final Theses and State Final Examinations at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University”).
The topics of bachelor’s theses are primarily assigned by teachers listed in the course catalogue. The bachelor’s thesis is defended in a public defence at the Department of Classical Studies (ÚKS); see the study regulations. - Key topics
- The student chooses the topic of their bachelor’s thesis from the list of topics offered by individual teachers in the Masaryk University Information System (IS MU) (“List of Topics in IS MU”) or on the basis of an agreement with them. The student attends the courses Seminar for the Bachelor’s Thesis I (REBc38a) and Seminar for the Bachelor’s Thesis II (REBc38b) and consults regularly with their supervisor.
- The structure of the thesis depends on the chosen topic; however, the general content includes:
- searching for the literature;
- searching in the sources;
- - a review of secondary literature,
- - a survey of primary sources,
- - the processing of partial issues,
- - the formulation of individual chapters,
- - the preparation of notes and the accompanying scholarly apparatus, and
- - the compilation of a list of literature and sources.
- Study resources and literature
- Další literaturu zadává vyučující podle povahy práce.
