Abstract

The aim of the course is to systematically develop the productive and receptive language skills of students of Russian at an advanced level, to deepen their communicative and grammatical competence and to purposefully expand their active vocabulary in the thematic areas of contemporary Russian. The course focuses on the functional and stylistically appropriate use of language, linguistic correctness and accuracy of expression, the elimination of Czech-Russian linguistic interference and the systematization of problematic grammatical phenomena. Emphasis is placed on working with authentic Russian texts of various genres, on developing the ability to understand and adequately interpret them, on deepening knowledge of Russian realities and cultural contexts, and on promoting students' linguistic reflection and independence in overcoming linguistic difficulties.

Learning outcomes

Student

-actively uses extended vocabulary from selected thematic areas of contemporary Russian,

-master and automate key grammatical phenomena and apply them in spoken and written expression without significant interference errors,

-understands authentic written and audiovisual texts of various genres (journalism, popular and professional texts, interviews), works independently with them, interprets their content and linguistic and stylistic peculiarities and makes adequate translation into Czech,

- is able to formulate coherent, argumentative and stylistically appropriate oral and written speeches, to use Russian at an advanced level with an emphasis on fluency, linguistic correctness and a richer vocabulary.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Regular practical training of oral and written speech.  Teaching is conducted through guided and free discussion, work with authentic written texts and audiovisual materials (videos), lexical, grammatical and transformational language exercises, short oral presentations and systematic error reflection with feedback.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
The student is assessed through a final written test, covering materials from lessons 6–11 of the textbook and the topics studied (synonyms, antonyms, paronyms, verbal and prepositional collocations, etc.), and an oral examination, which includes error reflection, discussion of conversational topics from Language Exercises 5 and 6, and review of submitted and corrected homework assignments.
