Course objectives
Diversity of cyanobacteria, algae and fungi is presented, based on selected representatives of particular groups. Observation and drawing of the plant samples with regard to important characters of particular taxa.
Learning outcomes
After completion of this practical course students should be able to:
determine and classify typical representatives of particular groups of organisms in accordance to the recent system;
present basic characters of these organisms (macroscopical and microscopical);
explain the basic morphological terms, apply them on real objects;
discuss ecological requirements of these taxa and their practical significance;
utilize basic microscopic techniques and create suitable scientific illustration;
use the facilities for work (especially with microscopical material) in follow-up courses or diploma thesis elaboration.
Syllabus
  • Demonstration practice shows representatives of organismal groups, which are presented in concurrent lecture, using macroscopical and microscopical samples, living cultures and conserved material.
