- Abstract
- The course focuses on developing students’ ability to understand complex scientific texts and lectures, discuss advanced scientific topics, and produce structured written and oral presentations. Emphasis is placed on clear and precise communication, effective use of academic vocabulary, and participation in seminars, discussions, and collaborative projects. Students will engage in authentic tasks such as analyzing research papers, presenting findings, and summarizing scientific concepts, building both confidence and independence in English for professional and academic contexts.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing this course the student will be able to:
- understand authentic texts/lectures on earth science
- summarize a scientific/earth science text
- interpret the information from the text/lecture
- describe tables and graphs
- present a scientific topic using advanced presentation techniques
- engage in a debate on technical a topic
