Course objectives
The aim of the field trip is learning of methods of mapping and assessment of connectivity of sediment transport and water runoff in small watersheds.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - recognize and map different types of sediment sources; - to map sediment transport barriers in stream channel; - to determine the confinement index and assess its importance for the delivery and transport of sediments; - to carry out grain size analyzes in the field.
Syllabus
  • Day 1: - Physical-geographical excursion in the Dyje River catchment. Day 2: - Excursion on the Vranov water reservoir. - Mapping of the confinement index in the selected chatchments. Day 3: - Mapping of sediment sources in the channels of selected catchments. - Teaching grain analysis methods. Day 4: - Mapping of sediment transport barriers. - Evaluation of data from mapping and measurements.

Teaching methods
Practical examples of field methods and then their independent application under the guidance of supervisors.
