  • General Biology (programme PřF, B-BI, specialization Physiology of Animals)
Course objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able to: work with light microscope, aware of the specialized microscopy techniques used in   zoology (dark field, phase contrast, differential interference contrast, fluorescence, confocal microscopy, measuring, photomicrograph, drawing), prepare basic types of microscope slides (fixation, staining, mounting in the media, histological slides).
Syllabus
  • Light microscopy - dark field, phase contrast, differential interference contrast, fluorescence, confocal microscopy, measurement methods, photomicrography, drawing;. Basic zoological techniques - nativ slides, vital staining (neutral red, Kongo red, Methylen green, Janus green B). Permanent slides, framing, fixation, Carmine and hematoxylin staining; glycerol, glycerol jelly, Liquido-Faure, PVA; resinous media - canada balsam. Histological slides - embedding, cutting and staining.
