- Course objectives
- Course is aimed at students of biology but it may be useful for junior researchers. Prerequisite of successful research in the plant physiology is a good knowledge of basic methods used in this field. Students in this course will learn principles of several important methods used in analysis of functioning of higher plant.
- Syllabus
- Methods for image processing
- Image analysis
- Thin layer chromatography of photosynthetic pigments and preparation of standards
- Measurement of root respiration by oxymetric method, analysis of respiratory pathways
- Isolation of leaf chloroplasts, tests of their activity
- Advanced methods in measurement of plant gas exchange
- Measurement of hydraulic resistance of xylem and the degree of xylem integration
- The effects of toxic compounds on the activity of Hill reaction in chloroplasts
- Effects of quantity and quality of light on the growth of plants in in vitro cultures
- Measurements of the rate of photosynthetic processes by oxymetry and fluorometry – comparison of methods
- Ascorbateperoxidase – determination of activity and the amount of protein
- Detection of stress due to exposure to toxic compounds using fluorometric methods

- Theoretical overwiev and practical training.

- Regular attendance of the course, complete and correct records from practical training.
