Prerequisites
For all students manipulating with chemical substances during their study at Faculty of Science MU. The C7777 subject is to necessary to pass every academic year.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Course C7777 Handling with chemicals is compulsory for all students who manipulate with chemicals in the practical courses during their studies at Faculty of Science MU. This fact follows from study plans, responsible persons are guarantees of individual study fields.

Main objectives are: chemical legislacy, handling with hazardous chemicals and removal of chemical wastes.
Syllabus
  • Information about scopes of chemical laws: No.350/2011, 352/1999, 258/2001, administrative orders 25/1999 and 27/1999, and other documents dealing with the problems of chemical substances.

    Topics:

    basic definitions

    characteristics of hazardous chemicals

    warning symbols, R-phrases, S-phrases, H- and P- statements

    safety sheet

    packing and labeling of hazardous chemicals

    storing of chemical substances

    responsibility of person

    basic rules for working in chemical laboratories

    removal of chemical wastes

    chemical databases and links to useful websites

Introduction lecture and individual study of materials on web
Assessment methods
Introductory lecture (2 hours) at the beginning of an autumn term.

This lecture is compulsory for all students in the 1st term of their Bachelor study, the lecture is facultative for other students and for Ph.D. students.

The graduation from this course is every-year testing - valid for all registered students.
