Course objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand the basic theory of thematic cartography, composition skeleton and structure thematical maps, use principles of legend making, making and use thematic maps and atlases.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- understand the basic theory of thematic cartography;
- apply the basic principles of map composition;
- evaluate the structure of thematical maps;
- use the basic principles of legend-making;
- create and use thematic maps and atlases.

Quantum GIS - basic functions 6. Quantitative and qualitative data in thematical maps 7. Quantitative data displaying 8. Map concepts - purpose, name, and content of thematical maps 9. Construction of different thematical map types 10. Legend of the map, its principles, and creation 11. Cartogram in Cartography 12. Selected production of thematical maps and atlases 13.
