Prerequisites
NOW( F3060 Oscillations, waves, optics )
The course is registered together with the lecture Oscillations, Waves, Optics.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to expand and deepen the topics covered in the Oscillations, Waves, Optics course exercises. An integral part of the course includes simple simulations in Python.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
- describe and analytically solve fundamental problems in the field of oscillations, waves, and optics,
- develop a program for numerical simulation of problems that go beyond the possibilities of analytical solutions.
Syllabus
Free and damped oscillations. Combined and coupled oscillations. Applications – molecular vibrations. Optical properties of materials. Diffraction.
Teaching methods
- calculations of sample problems
- discussion of unclear points
- programming in Python
Assessment methods
- attendance (a maximum of 3 unexcused absences is allowed) - group work on projects in Python
Náhradní absolvování
In the case of an international trip, it is possible to complete the course in an alternative format. The basis for completion will be a specific assignment involving Python simulations.
Language of instruction
Czech
