- Course objectives
- This seminar will prepare the students of bachelor study programs (2nd year) related to biochemistry for realization of the bachelor thesis. Introduction to biochemical sources of information, preparation and presentation of research publications, research fields studied at the Department of Biochemistry and other research institutes providing bachelor thesis support.
- Syllabus
- 1. Department of Biochemistry - brief history, structure and research. Organization of work, administrative issues. 2. Information sources for biochemists available generally and specifically at MU. Source for and realization of reviews. Demonstrations - Web of Science, Chemical Abstracts, Science Direct, ACS, Springer Link. 3. Biochemical databases, basics of bioinformatics, visualization and studies of sequence and structure-related data. 4. Compilation of research publications (bachelor and other theses, contributions to scientific journals) - special and formal requirements, technical issues, experience. Preparation and realization of presentations. 5. Information about the research fields at the department provided by the academic staff, research projects and opportunities for students within diploma thesis. 6. Reports from realization of bachelor thesis within preparation for its defence.
