Abstract
The approach to the Landscape is ecosystematic, with terrain identifications of landscape entities, analysis and interpretations, evaluation and proposals of landscape improvement; Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to receive basic information about living organismus funkcion in the Landscape; to understand relations of organismus to abiotic factors; to be aple to identify landscape structure; to understand to principles of Ecological networks and rules of their proposals; to recognize common woods in Czechia and their ecological requirements.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Lectures are held with help of powerpoint presentations with many picture illustrations. Part of the class exercises is replaced by terrain excursion - with active cooperation of the students. During the course students elaborate terrain project (mapping of a landscape).
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Exam is done by written test. It must be at least on level "E" anyway. Quality of the terrain project gives cca 20% of final course mark. Recognization of common woods in Czechia (on computer screen) gives another cca 20% of final mark. Quality of collaboration in excercises give cca 10% of the final course mark. To obtain the possiblility to attend the exam, students have to present their notes from the excursion to the seminar tutor.

Předmět vyváženě klade důraz na studium literatury a vlastní terénní průzkum krajiny. K dispozici jsou jak česky, tak anglicky psané monografie (Forman, Naveh, Míchal, Lőw aj.), jež jsou též částečně předmětem zkoušky. Co přesně bude předmětem samostudia bude studentům sděleno během přednášek. Terénní projekt zahrnuje území o ploše min. 1 km2 dle výběru studenta. Mapuje se využití území (včetně rozčlenění lesa), využití se hodnotí z hlediska trvalé urdržitelnosti, vybírají se ekologicky nejhodnotnější plochy. Obsah cvičení: Část je věnována konzultacím vlastního mapování studentů. Dále: Typologie krajiny - stručně na evropské úrovni (dle Lőw, Míchal 2003), podrobněji ČR (Lőw et all 2006). Chemismus hornin a hlavní horninové typy v ČR a jejich vliv na vegetaci (prezentace je ve studijních materiálech). Identifikace krajin na základě jejich obrazů. ÚSES - práce s mapami, postup při tvorbě ÚSES a jeho struktura, funkce jednotlivých částí ÚSES,... Literatura o krajině a krajinném rázu a práce s textem (D.Storch: Krajina není, J.Sádlo: Krajina jako interpretovaný text, Cílek, apod.) Tři cvičení jsou věnovány na půldenní exkurzi.
