Course objectives
At the end of this course, the students understand the principes of Unix and they will be able to work with this operating system. The students obtain the overview about Linux distributions and about programs for this system.
Syllabus
  • Types of computers, their parameters and computing power. Operating system Unix, its history and foundations. Work with operating system Unix, files and directories, basic commands. Programs under Unix, editors, compilators. Programing language C. Computer networks LAN and WAN. Electronic mail, Telnet, FTP and WWW. Archives and databases in computer networks. X window system, OSF/Motif.
