- Course objectives
- Basic knowledge necessary for field botanical research will be taught, including information on identification handbooks, regional floras, maps, databases, herbarium collections and methods of collecting herbarium specimens. A scientific herbarium collection will be visited. In the field, methods of botanical recording and geobotanical research will be demonstrated, including establishment of vegetation plots. At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand basic botanical data and information sources; acquire information and data necessary for their own field research; collect and prepare herbarium specimens; make botanical field records; establish vegetation plots.

- six lectures (6 x 2 hours); two days of field work aimed at methods of plant recording and establishment of vegetation plots

- Credit course: compulsary attendance of both field excursions and a field notebook; esablishment of three vegetation plots in different vegetation types (forest, meadow and a third vegetation type chosen by the student).
