- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain the evolutuion of life on the Earth and interpret main events in the evolution of fauna and flora; know basic principles of stratigraphy, types of stratigraphic units and the chronostratigraphic scale; explain and interpret orogenic processes that formed Europe; understand and explain the evolution of the Praecambrian and Fanerozoic sedimentary units in Czech republic;

- 1) Basic geological termsand priciples of stratigraphy 2) Radiometric dating and metods of determinations of relative age of rocks, stratigraphical units 3) Sedimentary facies, main types of sedimentary environments, types of marine facies 4) Hadean, Archeanc and Proterozoic evolution of the Earth and life 5) Lower Paleozoic, main division, climatic and paleogeographic development, orogenies 6) Evolution of fauna and flora in Lower Paleozoic 7) Lower Paleozoic of Bohemicum ti 8) Lower Paleozoic of the Moravosilesiajn region 9) Upper Paleozoic, main division, climatic and paleogeographic development, orogenies 10) Regional occurrences of Upper Paleozoic and their stratigraphy 11) Evolution of fauna and flora in Upper Paleozoic 12) Mesozoic, main division, climatic and paleogeographic development, orogenies 13) Evolution of fauna and flora in Mesozoic 14) Platfform development of Mesozoic and Caenozoic 15) Mesozoic in West Carpathians with Mesozoikum with focus on flysch belt 16) Apls 17) Caenozoic, main division, climatic and paleogeographic development, orogenies 18) Evolution of fauna and flora in Caenozoic 19) Tertiary in West Carpathians with focus on flysch belt, Wienna Basin and Carpathian Foredeep
