Before enrolling this course the students should either go through M1141 or basic knowledge of working on Linux systems and web site creation.

Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to: understand the principles of working with computer algebra systems; use CAS systems Maple and Sage in solving problems from various areas of mathematics; create and present mathematical graphics; use Maple and Sage to write own procedures.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
-actively use Maple and Sage computer algebra systems to solve mathematical problems;
-define variables in these systems and assign values to them;
-work with polynomials and rational expressions and their manipulation;
-define functions and solve equations;
- generate mathematical graphics in 2D and 3D;
-to work with lists and sets;
- write simple procedures.

Teaching methods
Lecture with the use of computer projections of output, exercises in the computer classroom, regular practical tasks.
Assessment methods
It is necessary to solve all regularly assigning tasks in exercises and handle the practical test on a computer at least with 50% success rate.
