Basic knowledge of vector calculus, differential and integral calculus is assumed. - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Physics with a view to Education (programme PřF, B-UCF) (2)
- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is an understanding of fundamental phenomena from Electricity and Magnetism. The course belongs to the basics of physics and it is given for students of the first and second year.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the student understand the fundamentals of electricity and magnetism,
they are able to apply theoretical knowledge in practical problems.
can elementaryize the issue to the level of high school physics. - Syllabus

- Teaching methods
- lectures, class exercises
Due to the negative epidemiological situation and the MU decision on education in Spring 2021 semester, the lectures and class exercises will be online.
(The present form of lectures and class exercises could be considered if the existing regulations and MU/faculty directions allow for that.) - Assessment methods
- Successful completion requirements:
Class exercises requirements fulfilment AND passing the examination
Class exercises requirements:
- Active participation on in-class exercises (presentation of solved exercises)
- Periodical submission of homework exercises
- Submission of all homework exercises, including corrections, when appropriate
- In-term assessments – achieving at least 50 % of points of each of the in-term ROPOTs
Passing the examination: (in successive order):
- Passing the class exercises requirements
- Achieving at least 50 % of points in test examination (theory and simple derivations/computations)
- Achieving at least 50 % of point in written examination (computation of physical problems)
- Passing the oral examination
- The final grade will be determined based on all three parts (test, written and oral exams)
The fulfilment of class exercises requirements will be done in the online form.
The present form of the final examination is strongly preferred. Only if epidemiological or other similarly serious reasons prevent the present form will the online form of final examination be decided. Requirements and examination structure will be preserved in such a case. - Language of instruction
