Parallel bars 13 – From upper arm hang back uprise to support

The initial position is the upper arm support. During the downswing, the gymnast is slightly bent. After passing the vertical, the movement is led by the heels. The gymnast moves into the hollow position and continues with an active upward movement of the hips. Simultaneous active work of the arms raises the whole body to the final support position in the back swing.

In the element, the gymnast benefits from the conversion of the elastic energy stored in the stretched muscles during extension into the kinetic energy of the upward movement. Thanks to the body tightening, the momentum of legs is transferred to the momentum of the whole body. The arm muscles also contribute to this movement. Their mechanical work is used to lift the body upwards, thus providing the body with the potential energy.
