The gymnast initiates the element in forward swing. When his hips and lower limbs are above the level of the apparatus, he pushes away from the more distant bar and releases. He moves his body over the closer bar, while his hands regrasp. The gymnast lands sideways to the apparatus, one arm sideward, the other one holds the bar or also releases and goes into a sideward position when the element is completed.
After the forward swing, the body continues to move upwards due to inertia. The force exerted by a hand on the more distant bar initiates the body shift sideways and over the bar. Based on Newton's 3rd law, an equal reaction force in the opposite direction is produced. As a result of the 2nd. Newton's law, this force gives the body an upward oblique acceleration. After overcoming the bar, the body's centre of gravity follows a parabolic curve until the landing.
- Unstrengthen body.
- Insufficient swing range.

Physical preparation 1
For the element it is important to have a tightened body during the swing and strengthened upper limbs.
Parallel bars 1 – Simple support

Drill 1
First practice swing forward to side dismount on a raised surface. Only then, with and without assistance, on a standard landing surface.
Swing forward to side dismount: Drill 1
The assistant holds the gymnast's arm with one hand and with the other hand pushes the gymnast's hips over the bar during the swing forward.
