Předpoklady
This course is intended for graduate and advanced undergraduate students entering their final year of study in management, research and development or the physical / applied sciences (engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, oceanography, and so forth) who wish to develop their skills in combining agile delivery techniques with the PRINCE2 project management method. Individuals outside of academia may also participate upon approval.

Participants are required to pass CPH_PMP2: Project Management using the PRINCE2 Method or be certified in PRINCE2 at the Foundation level prior to taking this course.

Preference is given to those enrolled in the Project Management Certification Programme offered by the Masaryk University Project management Centre of excellence.

Cíle předmětu
Managing Projects in an Agile Context is intended to help project managers and organizations integrate agile product delivery techniques and the PRINCE2 project management method into an iteration driven project environment. This will help them deliver dynamic, rapidly changing, customer centric solutions that meet their strategic, programme, project and operational objectives.

Upon completion, participants should:
• Understand the basic concepts of common agile ways of working
• Understand the purpose and context for combining PRINCE2 and the agile way of working
• Be able to apply and evaluate the focus areas to a project in an agile context
• Be able to fix and flex the six aspects of a project in an agile context
• Be able to apply or tailor the PRINCE2 principles, themes, processes and management products to a project in an agile context

  • Fundamental agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean Startup)
  • Behaviours, concepts and techniques of common agile ways of working
  • How PRINCE2 Agile is used in a project context, including the difference between projects and business as usual
  • The eight guidance points regarding PRINCE2 Agile
  • Benefits to organizations, projects, programmes, and people of combining PRINCE2 with agile
  • The need to ‘blend and weave’ PRINCE2 with agile at all levels of a project
  • Key focus areas
  • The application of focus areas to a project in an agile context and their associated techniques
  • Tolerances for the six PRINCE2 aspects of a project in an agile context, taking into account the rationale behind the five targets
  • The impact of the tolerances
  • The level of maturity of a specific project environment with respect to agile
  • How PRINCE2 principles can be applied to meet the needs of a project, including the use of a range of agile behaviours
  • Tailoring PRINCE2 themes to meet the needs of a project using a range of agile frameworks, behaviours, concepts and techniques
  • Evaluating how PRINCE2 processes can be tailored to meet the needs of agile delivery methods
  • Tailoring PRINCE2 management products to meet the needs of a project using a range of agile frameworks, behaviours, concepts and techniques

Výukové metody
Course delivery includes lectures, class discussion,and is lead by a certified PRINCE2 Agile professional. Homework and reading forms an integral part of the course.
