Metody hodnocení
Students will receive a final letter grade for the semester based on the following components: Field research and its evaluation: 6 points. Students should (with the help of lecturers) find and identify extremist and non-extremist political contents in public spaces (stickers, graffiti, banners, etc., but NOT regular campaign posters or other materials!) or in cyber-space and explain the meaning of symbols. Students´ activity and communicative skills in debates with lecturers are evaluated. Findings from the research should be presented at the workshop. Submitting the final paper (max 14 points) and its presentation (max 10 points). Students choose a violent or non-violent political actor to explore in detail. In their work they will reflect on the brand of this actor - noticing above all the internal values of the organisation, their perception by the audience, the symbolism used by the actor. The paper should include a consideration of market position - this will need to reflect on the competition (if any) and the environment in which the actor operates (including the intended audience or target groups). The political actors are chosen by the students in consultation with the lecturer. Components of evaluation: original authors approach, relevant goals and methods, theoretical background (theory of branding and interconnected issues), conceptualizing of the topic, structure, sources, and literature. The paper will be presented at one of the final seminars. Students will be asked to present their topic in class and should be able to lead a critical discussion and answer questions from the lecturer and other students. Presentation tools may be used, but the length of the presentation is expected to be no more than 20 minutes. The date of the oral presentation of the paper will be determined by lot (or by agreement between the teacher and the students). Required length: 14400 (+/- 10%) Deadline for submission: on the day of the presentation of the paper (3. 5. or 10. 5.) Final oral exam (max. 30 points): The exam consists of two open questions (each max. 15 points) based on the obligatory literature and presentations in class. Grading: 56-60: A 51-55: B 46-50: C 41-45: D 36-40: E 0-35: F

Academic Honesty Students are expected to know the Masaryk University study rules and maintain academic honesty by refraining from plagiarism and from cheating during exams. Plagiarism means that one presents other peoples’ ideas as one’s own and does not credit the author. Plagiarism is one of the most serious breaches of ethical standards in the academic environment, for it denies the mission of the university and the meaning of studying. From a legal perspective, plagiarism is the stealing of intellectual property. The official Faculty of Social Studies disciplinary policy states that academic dishonesty is not tolerated under any circumstances. For students caught plagiarizing or cheating in a course, the minimum penalty is immediate expulsion from the course, a grade of F for the semester, and referral to the Faculty Dean, who may choose to send the case to the FSS Disciplinary Committee. To avoid plagiarism, students are responsible for learning and following the rules about proper citation of sources.
