Anotace
The course provides students with an introduction to critical psychology. It examines what is generally understood as critical psychology and the position it takes on key ontological and epistemological issues in psychology. Students will gain an overview of the historical roots of critical psychology, including Wilhelm Reich and the Frankfurt School’s Freudo-Marxism, postcolonial approaches, Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory, Holzkamp and the Berlin Critical Psychology, and the anti-psychiatry movement. The course will also cover major methodological approaches, including participatory action research and critical discourse analysis. Finally, students will explore contemporary topics, such as climate anxiety and the psychology of inequalities, from a critical perspective.
Výstupy z učení
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Explain the key principles and historical roots of critical psychology.
- Reflect on the limitations of traditional psychological approaches, and recognize alternative approaches.
- Analyze psychological phenomena from a critical perspective, considering social, cultural, and political contexts.
- Evaluate contemporary psychological issues, such as inequalities and climate anxiety, using critical approaches.
- Gain an introductory understanding of critical research methods, including participatory action research and critical discourse analysis.
