Cíle předmětu
Ecomimicry is bio-inspired eco-innovation. The innovation may be technological or social (and is usually and probably both) in order to achieve a new ecofriendly situation in a specific context. This course will help students develop skills in the theory and practice of Ecomimicry.
Osnova
  • Each student will be involved in designing a technology, or a city, or a village, or a product, or a service, or a landscape, or an artwork of their own choice. The only constraints are that it must be inspired by an animal or plant that is 'native' to a chosen area, and it must be environmentally-friendly in some way and useful for the people of that area. Because of the interdisciplinarity of the process, students will learn about 'social context of design and innovation', 'the ecology of places', and the 'environmental problems of places'.
Výukové metody
The course is open to students of all disciplines and all levels. No prior training in ecology or design is needed. The instruction will be in English but students with all levels of English ability are invited to participate.
