Cíle předmětu
The program considers the issue of human rights in the criminal law procedure. The program will be based on most know international treaties and rights such as the UDHR, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The subject is “The influence and effect of the international acts concerning human rights into the criminal legal system and crmininal procedure”.
It will consider particulary such issues as below.
Výstupy z učení
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- recognize human rights;
- able to point the difference between human rights;
- able to use them in practice;
- point the influence of human rights on procedural criminal law.

  • 1. Introduction to the history of Poland and human rights in Poland
  • 2. History of Constitution and criminal law in Poland
  • 3. Procedure of criminal law – main law systems and the influence of human rights on it
  • 4. First law transformations concerning human rights aspect
  • 5. The right to life – revolution in death penalty and its withdrawal
  • 6. Torture, inhuman and degrading treatment – concerning regulations in criminal law, offenders, prisoners, mentally ill people, medical experiments
  • 7. Right to liberty and no punishment without law – and its effect to the criminal law
  • 8. Right to a fair trial – in criminal law
  • 9. Private and family life – on the example of criminal law
  • 10. Summary.
