Course objectives
The aims of the course are:
to recognize single pharmacotherapeutic drug classes, namely drugs used in urgent states
to understand the basic problems of dosage forms and of drug administration
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student knows:
single pharmacoterapeutical drug clases
single drug dosage forms
the differences in particular routes of administration of drugs
the modes of action, adverse reactions and basic indications of single drugs
the pharmacotherapy in particular urgent situations
Syllabus
  • PHARMACOLOGY PRACTICAL COURSES

  • PARAMEDICS BSFA0321c,

  • Lessons: 1st - 10th week - Monday 10:00- 12:30 (3 hr), Dpt. of Pharmacology, UKB A19

  • 1st lesson (16. 9.): Drug life-cycle: sources, research, and development of new drugs, registration, pharmacovigilance. Legislation on drugs and medical preparations. Information on drugs. Drug databases (SÚKL, EMA). Adverse drug reactions.
  • 2nd lesson (23. 9.): Pharmacodynamics. Pharmacology of vegetative nervous system.
  • 3rd lesson (30. 9.): Basics of pharmacokinetics. Drug dosage forms and routes of administration. Test topics 1. - 2.
  • 4th lesson (7. 10.): Opioid analgesics. NSAIDs. Spasmolytics.Narcotic and psychotropic substances.
  • 5th lesson (14. 10.): Antibiotics. Antiseptics. Disinfectants.
  • 6th lesson (21. 10.): Pharmacology of allergic reactions – H1-antihistamines. Antiasthmatics. Test topics 3.- 5.
  • 7th lesson (28. 10.): Public holiday.
  • 8th lesson (4. 11.): Therapy of polytrauma, shock and intoxications.
  • 9th lesson (11. 11.): Pharmacology of cardiovascular system. Drugs affecting blood clotting.
  • 10th lesson (18. 11.): Pharmacology of diabetes mellitus. Test topics 6.-9.

3 continuous multiple-choice tests, each test consists of 10 questions. At least 3 questions must be answered correctly. The number of test points added - from 3 tests the student must reach at least 10 points.
