- Abstract
- The goal of Physiology is to explain how the human organism works, from molecular interactions to organ systems and their regulation.
- Learning outcomes
- At the succesfully end of the course Physiology - at the level of its study field, the student will be able to ;
describe basic functions of the human body - from cells, individual tissues, organs, systems and organism as a whole ;
explain the basic types of regulation in the human organism ;
determine the basic numerical parameters of a healthy adult human;
to apply basic physiological principles to the clinical problems of their study field - Key topics
- Regulation of food intake. Measurement of energy expenditure; The heart (morphology, functions, conductive system). Cardiac cycle; Electrocardiography. Examination technique in cardiology; Physiology of circulation. Specialities of regional circulation, microcirculation; Excretory system (morphology, function, endocrine fiunction of kidney). Countercurrent multiplier system. The body fluids. Urine formation. Regulation of acid-base balance; General principles of endocrine system. Regulation of calcium and sodium metabolism, regulation of glyceamia. Thyroidal hormones. Stress. Physiology of reproduction; Physiology of aging. Pediatric physiology.
