Anotace

The course focuses on the practical application of psychological principles in the clinical practice of dentistry. It develops students’ self-awareness and internal skills and expands them through their application in patient care.


Emphasis is placed on working with specific clinical situations involving psychosomatic relationships, principles of predictive processing, patient motivation, psychological interventions, and an empathic approach.


The course focuses on understanding how expectations, emotions, and bodily experience influence patient behaviour, treatment adherence, and responses to treatment, and how these processes can be integrated into clinical reasoning and practice.


Through case studies, discussion, and analysis of model situations, students develop a practical way of thinking that enables more effective work with patients in real healthcare settings.

Students:

  • analyse clinical situations from the perspective of psychosomatic relationships
  • identify the role of expectations and predictive processing in pain experience and patient behaviour
  • recognize factors influencing patient motivation and propose strategies supporting behavioural change
  • orient themselves in the possibilities of using psychological interventions in specific situations
  • apply an empathic and compassionate approach in interactions with patients

Teaching is conducted in the form of seminars focused on applying the discussed topics to specific situations. The course includes case studies, work with model scenarios, discussions, and structured analysis of clinical cases. Emphasis is placed on the ability to translate theoretical models into practical clinical reasoning and decision-making.
Způsob ověření výstupů z učení a požadavky na ukončení

The course is based on students’ active participation during class. 100% attendance and active engagement in the individual teaching blocks are expected.


The course is completed by fulfilling the attendance requirement. Active participation in class is considered a key prerequisite for achieving the learning outcomes.

Náhradní absolvování
This course cannot be completed in an alternative form, as it is based on direct participation in face-to-face teaching conducted at the university.
